Make a symbolic adoption of a Lynx by donating to WWF Bulgaria and help us protect the precious old-growth forests - the home of so many wild animals! The Lynx was once considered extinct from Bulgaria, but today we have evidence it is cautiously coming back. But its home - the ancient forests - are increasingly being logged and destroyed. Help us protect the forest wildlife of Bulgaria, by protecting their home!
The old-growth forests are the last places of wild nature, they give home to a variety of wild animals for many centuries. But over 50% of the last old forests in Bulgaria do not fall into protected areas. This means that they can be destroyed at any time.
Thanks to WWF Bulgaria 109 000 ha old-growth forests were officially announced for protected from logging. Now we need your help to: - continue with our expeditions for identifying other territories of old-growth forest so that they can be officially protected; - monitor weather the logging prohibition is being complied with in practice in the officially protected territories or there are still people who destroy the home of the wildlife in Bulgaria.
This project will help protect the old-growth forest at national level and make a reality check weather the law is being respected. WWF's project will help to fight the existing practice of illegal logging in the old-growth forests. This way the habitat of variety of endangered forest wildlife will be protected.
