Working towards a Hepatitis Free Pakistan!!

By Dr Laila Rizvi | Executive Director

Screening
Screening

With a sustained focus on the targets of Pakistan National Hepatitis Strategic Framework (NHSF) for Pakistan 2017-2021 i.e. “viral hepatitis transmission is halted and everyone living with viral hepatitis has access to safe, affordable and effective prevention, care and treatment services”, THF continues to strive untiringly to contribute to its achievement

Establishing new partnerships/ collaborations with other NGOs and Corporates , at present 16 sentinel treatment sites are functional in 3 provinces of Pakistan for free and timely cuartive services to the poor , non affording patients. All efforts are made to provide all services i.e. consultation, Laboratory and medicines, to the patients under one roof.

With the addition of the Screening activity to our Hepatitis Free Community Model , in the last 4 months 71 camps have been held in high prevalent areas and 9700 population screened. All testing positive have been linked to appropriate health care services

With the cost of oral DAAs ( Direct acting anti viral) being the lowest in the region, access to treatment has been made possible to a much larger population than expected. The challenge is to get cost effective, appropriate and quality lab services available at the far flung intervention areas. We have explored and developed partnership with quality labs to tackle this very impostant issue

In this reporting period 206 of Hep B and 591 Hep C have been provided with free treatment services

Another challenge is the issue of behaviour change. We can keep on treating patients but the need is to get both Right Holders and Duty Bearers to adopt apporpriate social anf health seeking behaviours if we are to achieve the target of Hepatitis Elimination by 2030. A Comprehensive Communication strategy has been developed and is in various phases of implementation to work at this very important component of the program

The task is MASSIVE......We cannot do it alone ....... WE NEED YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS!!

PLEASE COME FORWARD AND DONATE . God Bless you for your generosity!!!!!!!!
