ADOPT A FAMILY FOOD DRIVE

In 17th September 2025, Woman’s Hope Kenya successfully conducted the Adopt a Family Food Drive in Gataka, reaching 87 vulnerable families with essential food items and clothing. The initiative aimed to provide immediate relief to families facing economic hardship, ensuring they had access to basic necessities and renewed hope through community care and solidarity.

2. Background and Objectives

The Adopt a Family initiative is part of Woman’s Hope Kenya’s ongoing community outreach efforts to support families in need—especially those affected by poverty, gender-based violence, and loss of livelihood. The specific objectives of this drive were:
• To provide food and clothing to vulnerable households in Gataka.
• To promote compassion and social responsibility within the community.
• To restore dignity and hope to families struggling to meet daily needs.

3. Implementation

The food drive took place in Gataka, coordinated by Woman’s Hope Kenya volunteers. Donations were mobilized from friends, well-wishers, and community supporters.

Each family received a package containing essential food items such as maize flour, rice, beans, sugar, cooking oil, and salt, along with assorted clothing for both children and adults.

The distribution process was carried out in person, allowing the team to interact directly with beneficiaries, listen to their stories, and offer emotional support in addition to material aid.

4. Outcomes and Impact
• 87 families received food and clothing packages.
