After the summer holidays in Argentina, we are back with more enthusiasm, excitement and more needs than ever.
During these months and thanks to the support of the Navarro Viola and Botín Foundations, we are designing an application and a platform to bridge the digital gapfor the elderly. To this end, we already have a landing page in Spanish in which the activities to be carried out are presented. We hope to launch it in the coming months with the help of all of you.
We also want to tell you that Obra del Padre Mario is part of "Being Together", an initiative promoted by the organisation Scholas Ocurrentes and to which ISALUD University has also adhered.
Being Together is a meeting place for young people from different countries of the world and older people. The aim of this generational exchange is to promote the culture of encounter and thus transform the current culture of discarding old age that predominates in our society.
The revaluation of the role of older adults is one of the premises on which the work of Tercera Edad is based. That is why the call to participate in the proposal of "Being together" is an opportunity to deploy the work we do every day.
Our protagonists are the older adults who attend the Obra’s Day Centre and a group of students of University Nursing, who are trained at the Pantaleo College University Level (agreement with the ISALUD University).
This programme of Scholas, an organisation founded by Pope Francis, is a training and health proposal that emerged in 2020, during the social and preventive isolation established during the Covid-19 pandemic.
In this difficult context, Scholas started to plan intergenerational exchanges between young and old. These connections are meaningful and effective in alleviating the negative emotional and cognitive effects of loneliness that affect both age groups.
All this was possible with the support and commitment of our professional teams and all the community whose unwavering support has been a constant presence on all the paths we have taken, demonstrating their spirit of solidarity.
To continue, we need to finance the supplies: the tablets, pen drives, chargers, notebooks, adapted PCs, snacks, screen protectors, speakers. We need your help
