The project was created to shorten the digital gap and the isolation of 100 people over 65 years of age from Gonzalez Catan, Buenos Aires, facilitating the creation and maintenance of links through technology. In order not to leave anyone behind, we develop face-to-face workshops with playful and friendly actions that promote digital skills that allow them to maintain their autonomy, live with dignity, share, be active, make decisions and learn from others.
Unwanted loneliness, greater isolation due to the progressive loss of exchanges, difficulties in accessing information, the need to maintain, strengthen, rehabilitate physical and cognitive functions, and the consequences of inaccessibility to socio-recreational services due to high mobility costs. It has also been the most affected population by COVID 19: loss of physical and cognitive condition caused by confinement and lack of routine activities.
This project integrates them into the digital world and allows them to strengthen their functional capacities: 1. learn, grow and make decisions to strengthen autonomy, dignity, integrity, personal freedom and independence 2. be mobile to complete daily tasks and participate in activities 3. build and maintain relationships with family, neighbors, others) 4. contribute to society (helping friends, mentoring youth, etc)
The impact of what has been done so far has been positive. The experience has shown that they need this space to stay mentally, physically and emotionally active. Their involvement was very high, little dropout and a very low rate of absenteeism. This project feeds the self-esteem, the desire to learn, the confidence, independence and productivity of the elderly. What is achieved today for them, are benefits achieved for us when we reach their age.
