Dear Supporters
September is Deaf Awareness month.
This year’s theme is “With South African Sign Language rights, our children can”
During the month of September activities are planned to create awareness in the community about South African Sign language and about the Deaf Community.
Our Annual School Concert will take place from the 7th to the 11th of September. This is always a highlight on the calendar. Local schools and community members always enjoy attending.
This year the school is hosting a Family Fun Run to create Deaf Awareness and to raise much needed funds. We are thrilled with the overwhelming response and look forward to an exciting day.
Lungane, a beneficiary from your donations, became profoundly Deaf after contracting meningitis in 2013 at the age of 15. At the time he was attending a mainstream school and had to be transferred to Fulton School for specialised education.
Irregular school attendance due to insufficient funds for daily transport resulted in hostel accommodation becoming necessary.
It is a pleasure to report that this young man is now making very pleasing progress. He has received counselling to cope with his deafness and has adapted well. This is only possible as a result of your continued support. We are truly grateful.
THANK YOU!
