Since Alhassan Foundation was established in 2013, we have been working closely with wheelchair users to understand the real challenges they face in their daily lives in Egypt. Over the years, we have seen many difficulties, but one problem has always stood out as one of the biggest and most limiting—Accessible transportation.
For many wheelchair users, transportation is not simple or easy. It is often the main reason why they cannot go to work, attend school, visit friends, or take part in social activities. Something as basic as leaving the house can become a daily struggle. Without safe and accessible transportation, many people are forced to stay at home, which affects their independence, their confidence, and their sense of belonging in society.
We believed this had to change.
That’s why we decided to take a real and practical step to make transportation easier and safer for wheelchair users.
We started from within our own organization. Today, our team includes more than 30 wheelchair users. Every day, they are able to come from their homes to our office using our accessible bus. This bus is specially designed to meet their needs. It allows them to get on and off the bus safely while staying in their own wheelchairs, without any risk, discomfort, or difficulty.
For many of them, this is not just a bus ride. It is the difference between staying at home and being able to work, grow, and be part of a team. It gives them freedom, independence, and dignity. It allows them to start and end their day with ease and confidence.
Seeing this impact encouraged us to do more.
We are committed to extending this service beyond our team. Our accessible bus is also available to support other organizations and groups that need to transport wheelchair users. We help in different types of events, including sports tournaments, large exhibitions, and public events where many wheelchair users need safe and organized Accessible transportation.
By doing this, we are helping more people access opportunities that were once difficult or impossible to reach. We are supporting inclusion in real and practical ways.
Our goal is simple: to remove one of the biggest barriers in the lives of wheelchair users and to create a more inclusive society where everyone can move freely and participate fully.
At Alhassan Foundation, we believe that accessibility is not an extra service or a special benefit—it is a basic human right. And we will continue working to make this right available to everyone who needs it.
We want to thank each and every donor or supporter who helps us to achieve this success and we urge you to continue supporting us in our cause, our hope, our dream. You can do that through subscribing to a monthly donation option, which helps us secure more funds to help more wheelchairs users and their families.
