Summary

Across underserved areas in Lagos State, many children are out of school because families cannot afford uniforms, exam fees and basic supplies. Your gift returns 200 children to class with a full enrolment pack and attendance follow-up, with every re-entry independently verified by committed youth and community volunteers.

Challenge

Household shocks and the hidden costs of "free" schooling keep children at home. Uniforms, exam levies, school bags and transport for the first weeks are often unaffordable. Once a child drops out, return becomes less likely with each passing term. Families need practical, fast help, and schools need a trusted local partner to coordinate re-entry and track attendance.

Solution

We identify out-of-school children with community partners and headteachers, provide a complete re-enrolment package, and case-manage attendance through the first term. Each child receives a uniform set, shoes, school bag, stationery, exam and activity levies, ID support, and a short transport stipend to stabilise attendance. Our team verifies enrolment and checks attendance with the school, then troubleshoots barriers with caregivers and local authorities.

Long-Term Impact

Returning to school improves literacy, numeracy, and social protection for the child, and reduces the likelihood of early labour and exploitation. At system level, the project strengthens school-community coordination and generates practical data on what it costs to bring a child back, which informs better local planning.
