Project Report for Making Healthcare a Human Right (34609)
In today’s era, medical sciences has advanced tremendously and is still progressing however the irony lies in the fact that affordability of medical treatment is often a question of distress to society, especially for people living in below poverty line. In such cases, Abhilasha Foundation financially supports the underprivileged children for their surgery and treatment for the children by voluntarily working with various hospitals. These children are already trapped in the vicious circle of poverty and ignorance because their parents are illiterate. Abhilasha Foundation works voluntarily with various hospitals such as Jupiter Hospital, Sir H N Reliance Hospital & Research Centre, Dr. Balabhai Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital, Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children and Asian Heart Institution & Research Centre, etc. Abhilasha Foundation has signed MOU’s with various hospitals to fund such critically ill patients so that these underprivileged children do not be deprived of medical help. We also conduct various health camps in the slums and schools for the community.
Case Story of Baby Aaradhya:
Baby Aaradhya a 16 month old baby girl has been fighting her life against life-threatening liver disease. Her treatment and medicines started since day one and still continues. She was diagnosed with end-stage liver cirrhosis. Only an immediate liver transplant would help save her life and fortunately her father Mr. Sainath was medically and physically eligible to give part of his liver to his ailing little daughter. A welder by profession Mr. Sainath and his wife has already spent more than half their savings on their first daughter’s illness and despite all efforts in providing the best treatment to her she succumbed to the illness and they could not save her life. Keeping their elder daughter in fond memories, the couple was blessed with Aaradhya and the parents got the smile back. The operation costs around Rs. 25 lakhs and the hospital was been kind enough to reduce the procedure cost and brought it down to Rs. 15 lakhs. Abhilasha Foundation gave all the support for her surgery and treatment and now both of them are fine and they are still being treated in Jupiter Hospital. We thank GlobalGiving Team for supporting Abhilasha Foundation for raising funds for Baby Aaradhya and also thank the whole team for guiding us during this campaign for raising funds for her surgery and treatment. We request GlobalGiving Team to spread awareness about Abhilasha Foundation and its causes and raise more funds so that many poor children can be treated and save their lives. Further request The GlobalGiving Team to request potential donors to donate generously on our various projects.
Abhilasha Foundation was established by a team of social workers who are working in the field of health, education, sustainability, vocational training, empowering women and child development. Abhilasha Foundation as its name suggests provides reality to all the dreams and desires of the impoverished people. It has been successfully giving breaths to the educational and financial dreams of the impoverished and unprivileged children and women. It was initiated in the year 2014 with a motto of giving better life and survival to the needy. By immense hard-work and over-coming various hurdles, we have been remarkably serving the suffering community of humanity through the means of Abhilasha Foundation. During the initial period, Abhilasha Foundation was set up under a tree with a view of teaching the needy students. By the grace of God and the support of the charitable donors and the goodness that still prevails in the society somewhere, Abhilasha Foundation has reached great heights now in bringing smiles on the faces of such children and creating a better present and an amazing future for them. With its just 4th year in its existence, it has commendably set up 10 portable classrooms, with nearly 100 volunteers working under its organization and donors that have been as angels to the impoverished people. Abhilasha Foundation is not only working in the field of education but also for the health, sanitation and women empowerment.
