Hi!
Below I detail the various activities carried out in my volunteer:
I traveled to Kenya on June 24th, arriving there on 25th.
That same day we started with the distribution of school supplies for different schools and the distribution of donations for the Maasai village.
Sunday 26 we delivered to the Maasai community you live that week of all material hygiene and clothes brought from Spain, we wrote the planning of the whole week and we distribute the different activities during our stay there.
Monday 27 we visited the Ositeti School and made the delivery of educational, recreational and hygiene materials.
At the school we did different activities such as:
- Basketball tournament with the Maasai girls
- Regional dances
- Storyteller in English & Swahili
- Visit the clinic and the doctor of the school
- Control medical visits, medical equipment and medicines stock
Tuesday 28 we interviewed to 5 students to assess the possibility of providing a scholarship.
5 Students are the Maasai community that best notes have in their studies for reasons of family poverty can not afford continuity in university.
The ONGD "Amigos de Ositeti" is responsible for searching the resources to monitor the progress of each student, and scholarships. We also interviewed teachers os students to verify that scholarships are given guarantees.
Wednesday 29 we went to Embiti school, there continue with the cast material and repeat the same activities as in the previous school. We also interviewed two teachers and study cases to facilitate their salary.
We activate a program of contributions to the Maasai community will also be involved in projects
Thursday 30 we visited two children with serious medical needs, we track their disease and schedule medical visits for the week. One of them we brought from Sapin tracking medical visits, recovery and rehabilitation.
The other child we are trying to get him start studying. He is a guy with special needs, he don't have legs and upper limb malformation, but he has great potential to develop his intellect.
Friday 31 we come back to Ositeti School, in this time we review the state of the well. The construction is completed! But for now sucking water pump does not work. We study the construction, we contacted with the person responsible for the completion of the project and we determine a deadline to be operating well.
It is very complicated things are finalized when you propose, there things go very slow.
We can say that after five years, the well is almost finished!
