We combat social exclusion and poverty in urban contexts with a longterm, sustainable and comprehensive approach. Our center is accessible, supports efforts of integration as well as emergency support on a drop-in basis and promotes social inclusion through community-building, participation, and holistic support services. Via collaboration and open communal spaces, we promote interaction, idea development, relationship-building & appropriate services to empower people seeking refuge.
Greece, a primary entry point to the EU faces ongoing challenges in providing essential support, safety, and dignity to people seeking safety. Greek authorities & the EU, with deterrence policies, harsh border controls, pushbacks and the suspension of life-saving assistance have on too common occasions instigated fatal consequences and reluctance for adequate services, integration support & human rights, leaving vulnerable people in social exclusion, poverty and destitution.
The Victoria Community Center fills critical gaps in the social system for people seeking refuge and builds bridges between communities, fostering social inclusion and integration. We provide essential services such as safe spaces, a cafe, lunch, creative activities, workshops, and access to comprehensive support services through our partner organizations, including medical, legal, psychosocial, and gender-based violence support, educational opportunities and women and children's spaces.
Victoria CC encourages social interaction, facilitates access to crucial support services, and strengthens bonds among people with diverse backgrounds. It supports individuals in overcoming mental, psychological, and physical challenges and collectively improves the quality of life. By combating loneliness and encouraging collaboration, it contributes to the well-being of individuals and the broader community, ultimately benefiting society as a whole in Athens and Greece.
