Learning Beyond the Classroom

By Ezekiel Kassanga | Project Leader

The school garden is thriving. The poultry unit is growing. Laughter fills the campus as girls practice braiding each other's hair. These are not extracurricular activities; they are part of how young mothers at Tumaini are rebuilding their lives.

While pursuing their secondary education, the girls also gain practical skills in vegetable gardening, poultry farming, and hair braiding. These hands-on experiences nurture confidence, responsibility, creativity, and an entrepreneurial mindset. Many who once believed their future had ended with early motherhood now see themselves as capable students, skilled young women, and future providers for their families.

This combination of quality secondary education and practical life skills is setting Tumaini apart. Families and communities are recognizing the difference, and enrolment has doubled compared to 2025 as more young mothers seek the opportunity to continue their education in a supportive environment.

With every new student comes a greater need to provide meals, learning materials, accommodation, and opportunities to continue this life-changing program. A gift of €21 supports one girl for one month, while €256 provides a full year of education and care.

Your continued partnership is helping more young mothers return to school, succeed academically, and graduate with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to build independent futures.

With gratitude,

Ezekiel
