At Alberta’s Lillie Inc., we continue to be a place of refuge for those in disadvantage communities. While wishing you all a Happy & safe New Year, we sincerely hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy during these unprecedented times. The Covid-19 pandemic continues to impact our communities. During this time of crisis & impact of Covid-19; our Afterschool Program for underprivileged children remains closed. However, our outreach work continues & we are looking forward to our programming activities to resume Summer 2022.
The communities we serve consist of a mixed population of migrant workers, domestic workers, laborers, daily wage earners, and others who heavily rely on government assistance for life necessities. Our efforts support the most vulnerable families, who are under-employed or unemployed and lack life’s bare necessities and find themselves with no jobs & food and are hit hardest by the pandemic. The unprecedented cycles of lockdown have disrupted their lives. They lived through their small savings and by borrowing money and raw essentials. But as the school shutdowns are being reinstituted, these families have exhausted all their resources and means.
During the 2021 holiday season, your donations helped us to help feed 250 families during the Thanksgiving holiday. Additionally, the need for warm clothing items to it make through a Chicago winter is huge. On December 18 & 19th we were fortune enough to touch the lives of 371 children by providing hats, scarfs, gloves, coats and a special holiday gift to add a smile of hope on these young people faces.
We sincerely hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy during these unprecedented times. We won't let the most vulnerable among us be side-lined during this time of crisis, but we need your support. Now, more than ever, our community needs us and we need you. We hope we will overcome this traumatic period together, and reopen our learning program.
