Reconstruction of the Animal Shelter SIRIUS in Ukraine (3000 animals in a shelter) Project Goal: Building of 4 enclosures, focusing on 8 dogs shelter residents from war zones Kharkiv, Kherson, Donetsk, Summy oblast and 2 local pets abandoned by citizens. Today, hundreds of animals at the shelter-who survived the Russian occupation and were rescued from combat zones-continue to live in unsafe, old (10-15 years) enclosures.
All inhabitants of Sirius became hostages of the war and victims of its cruelty. The shelter was under Russian occupation for 35 days. The infrastructure of the shelter and all the enclosures were severely damaged - day after day of artillery shooting and detonations have scared the dogs, who in stress and panic tried to escape and ruined the enclosures. We need reconstruction of the old enclosures. A new enclosure is not just a building, but a chance for safety, peace of mind and a new life.
The dogs will get very good accomodation. This will improve the care of the animals; they will not be injured and will enjoy more comfortable living conditions, which will significantly improve their lives at the shelter and their subsequent placement in permanent homes.
10 dogs immediately benefit (8 from war zones + 2 local abandond ). Reduction of stress and injuries (less overcrowding and fighting). Better hygiene, reducing risk of infectious diseases. Supports adoption: healthier, calmer dogs adapt better in families. First step toward upgrading the shelter's entire infrastructure (goal: 460 enclosures).
