Children with rare metabolic disorders like Phenylketonuria (PKU) depend on a strict medical diet to survive and develop safely. Without specialized medical food, they risk severe and irreversible intellectual disability. Through the Divina Dieta Project, Instituto Jo Clemente provides lifesaving medical nutrition to vulnerable families. Your donation helps deliver Medical Food Baskets so these children can grow, learn, and thrive.
Children with rare metabolic disorders need controlled medical diets to prevent severe brain damage. Yet, these specialized meals are costly, and often unavailable in Brazil. In order to help these children, Instituto Jo Clemente has created its own lab to formulate and produce their meals. However, the program runs at a deficit because most products are given for free to vulnerable families, and an increase in demand now exceeds our resources. This gap strains our means to properly aid them.
The Divina Dieta Project offers a lifesaving, evidence-based solution for families in need. IJC's nutritionists and food engineers create customized low-protein foods for medical diets that prevent metabolic crises and protect brain development. Families treated at the Institute receive these meals for free, while sales to the public generate revenue reinvested in production, access, and free Special Baskets for children. This campaign supports raw material purchases and infrastructure upgrades.
By ensuring access to medical nutrition, the Divina Dieta Project prevents intellectual disabilities, promotes healthy growth, and saves lives. Over time, it lowers healthcare costs, supports families, and fosters inclusion for people with rare metabolic disorders. With continued support, it seeks to reach more families and create a broader, more nutritious menu so every child can live, learn, and reach their full potential. This shared effort helps secure a fair future for all.
