Summary

Creating travel opportunities, inspiring & motivating OSCAR girls & boys is at the core of OSCAR's work & we are delighted to announce the first OSCAR USA Tour. Aanya Shah, of The Pingry School has been organising the tour, navigating huge challenges, passports, visas. Owning a passport, travelling in a plane, making friends with kids from vastly different background is a dream come true for not only the child, but their family & wider community. We're very excited for this inaugural US Tour.

Challenge

OSCAR children come from the most marginalised communities in India. Daily challenges create enormous stress on parents and children are all too often forced to drop out of school to take up poorly paid jobs to contribute to the family income. Most OSCAR parents did not have the privilege of an education and struggle to understand the long term gain of encouraging their kids to stay in school. Motivating & mentoring OSCAR kids is key. We have one simple rule, 'No School, No Football'.

Solution

Creating life changing overseas opportunities for OSCAR girls and boys inspires and motivates them to stay in education, work hard and believe in their dreams. The OSCAR International Tours demonstrate that travel educates, inspires and encourages beneficiaries to raise their game. The Alumni of OSCAR Tours are testament to the benefits. With the support of OSCAR International Ambassador, Aanya Shah, a student at Pingry School, we are proud to be taking part in the first OSCAR Tour to the USA.

Long-Term Impact

The OSCAR USA tour creates a platform for youth from both India and the USA to be part of a global community, to learn from each other and befriend their peers irrespective of nationality, religion, gender, caste or class. Students from the USA engage with disadvantaged OSCAR kids and collaborate in educational and cultural workshops, football training and share in life's challenges and successes. The long-term impact creates global citizens who learn to work together for a better life for all.
