For 31 years, Diani Children's Village (DCV) has provided a safe, nurturing home for abandoned, neglected, and vulnerable children along the Kenyan coast. This year, as we mark over three decades of changing lives, we launch "A Legacy of Hope" - a project dedicated to strengthening our child protection and mental health support systems. This initiative will ensure that every child under our care receives quality medical, psychological, and educational support from despair to hope
Rising Medical Expenses: Several of our young ones required critical medical attention this year.Baby Isham was diagnosed with a hole in the heart after an echocardiogram and now requires ongoing monitoring and specialized medical follow-up. Educational Costs. The educational needs of our school-going children continue to rise. Quality education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty, yet it remains one of our largest financial burden. Proper permanent staffing is also an issue.
The funds raised through "A Legacy of Hope" will directly support the following areas: Medical and Therapeutic Care,Education Support:Payment of school fees, learning materials, and exam costs for primary, secondary, and special needs children.Strengthening child protection systems, including training staff in safeguarding and trauma-informed care.Providing fair and sustainable support for caregivers to ensure consistency, safety, and quality in child care.
This project is not just about addressing today's challenges - it's about investing in the future of children and ensuring that the next generation grows up in safety, love, and dignity.Children with medical needs will continue to receive timely treatment and therapy, giving them a fair chance at a healthy life.Every child supported through this program will have access to education - the key to independence and a brighter future,With trained and supported caregivers.
