Chisinau, capital of the Republic of Moldova, with a population of 700,000, currently has no in-patient hospice. We want to build the first one and have secured a plot of land for this purpose. It will have 20 beds for adults and 6 beds for children with terminal and life-limiting illnesses. It will also act as a teaching center for health care professionals who work with terminally ill patients and dramatically impact the care of this currently neglected group of patients and family members.
There is currently no in-patient hospice in Chisinau, which has a population of 700,000. This means that many patients with cancer and other terminal illnesses suffer needless pain, as the current hospital system does not have adequate facilities to care for them.
The hospice will provide 20 beds for adults and 6 beds for children, and will complement the current homecare services provided by Hospices of Hope Moldova. We have the full cooperation of the Ministry of Health and the local Mayor.
The hospice will provide a much needed teaching facility for health care professionals and lead to a dramatic improvement in the way that terminally ill patients are cared for in Moldova.
