Mann Deshi Foundation is committed to providing accessible and affordable healthcare services to underserved communities in Mann and Khatav Talukas. Their comprehensive healthcare initiative comprises a state-of-the-art Diagnostic Centre, mobile Health Camps, and an Ambulance service, ensuring quality medical care reaches those in need.
1. Diagnostic Centre
Mann Deshi has established a fully equipped diagnostic centre offering radiology services (CT and X-ray), pathology facilities, physiotherapy, and an Outpatient Department (OPD). As the only facility of its kind within a 70 km radius, it provides essential medical services at government-approved rates. To enhance accessibility, an additional pathology centre was set up in the central town, ensuring convenience for residents. Serving a population of 500,000 across Mann and Khatav Talukas, the facility operates on solar energy, making it both sustainable and environmentally friendly.
2. Health Camps
Mann Deshi organizes health camps in villages to raise awareness and provide treatment for prevalent health conditions like diabetes and hypertension. Women, in particular, often neglect their health due to a lack of public transportation and work obligations. These camps bring medical professionals directly to the community, making healthcare more accessible. Additionally, specialized health camps have been conducted for children, vision screening, prosthetic limbs, and in collaboration with the forest department for specific health needs.
3. Ambulance Services
The foundation operates two 24/7 cardiac ambulances equipped with Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). These ambulances played a crucial role during the COVID-19 pandemic, transferring over 200 patients safely. The service is free, with patients only required to cover the diesel costs. From February to May 2023, a total of 120 ambulance trips were completed. Additionally, Mann Deshi has established an oxygen machine bank and a mobile oxygen cylinder refilling facility to support patients requiring respiratory care at home.
Outcome & Impact
16,264 patients served at the Diagnostic Centre
7,245 patients benefited from Health Camps
316 patients received emergency care through the Ambulance service
Stories of Change
Usha (62 years old), a laborer suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure, and thyroid disease, struggled with her health despite receiving treatment elsewhere. Upon visiting the Mann Deshi Health Care Center, doctors provided comprehensive care, including dietary adjustments, exercise guidance, and personalized medication management. Her blood sugar levels, once at 300, are now stabilized, and her medication requirements have reduced significantly. Usha appreciates not only the affordability of the services but also the compassionate care provided by the doctors and staff.
Daivatabai (39 years old) Daivatabai suffered from a persistent rash but found relief through a Mann Deshi Health Camp held in her village. The attending doctor diagnosed her condition, provided medication, and educated her on hygiene practices to prevent recurrence. She strongly advocates for regular health camps in her village, recognizing their immense value for elderly and economically disadvantaged individuals.
Mann Deshi Foundation continues to bridge the healthcare gap in rural communities, ensuring that quality medical services are both accessible and sustainable.
