Sometimes when we donate, we don't realize the impact that contribution can have on the lives of those we are helping. Today, I would like to help you visualize how your contributions are building resilience in the lives of the children we serve.
Resilience is a very important skill we all need. However, for children whose basic needs are not being met and who grow up facing violence, emotional stress, and insecurity, resilience is a crucial ability for them to acquire.
When you have resilience you can adapt to life's misfortunes and setbacks. One of the most meaningful ways to build it is to have strong and positive relationships with people that can provide you with needed support and acceptance in good and bad times.
That is what we do with every child beneficiary of our projects. We know who they are, where they live, their families, challenges, and needs. When they come to what we call Casa ILORI (the building where our projects are carried on), they are received with love, acceptance, and a great deal of enthusiasm and hard work to meet their emotional, academic, and nutritional needs and more.
In the last months, gratefully we have come back to in-person activities with smaller groups but working with more groups per day. We keep helping them to become successful in school, providing them nutritional meals, and allowing them to learn guitar and other musical skills. Using playful and ludic methods we help them build emotional skills, such as resilience, so they can learn how to self-manage their emotion and have control over their actions and reactions to different situations in life. All these much-needed skills to access a brighter present and future.
All this is possible thanks to you. Because you care we can keep on the good work and build real opportunities for the children we serve at the Carpio community. ¡Thank you!
