This project develops in coast of Bay of Bengal Tamil Nadu (India). Nursery are being run in Vedranyam for production of Mangroves sapling. 10000 mangroves will be planted in the next 3 months and 5000 coastal community as fishermen, students and environmental groups will be motivated. It will maintain coastal eco-system with safe breeding and habitation of fishes, birds, clams, mollusks and species.
Tamil Nadu coastal is affected often by Cyclone, Tsunamai and high tide. Farmers, fishermen and other coastal community are severely affected. In other side destruction of forest, Prawns culture, encroachment and tourism development are affecting coastal eco-system. The existing mangroves are cut for firewood as they are lack of knowledge on importance of Mangroves and costal environment. Waste land in coastal is invaded for environmental degradation works such prawn culture and chemical company
ROSI Foundation is promoting motivation among farmers, students and coastal communities on existing mangroves conservation and new planting in 120 KM covering Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam district. In this project 10000 Mangroves saplings in every month that 30000 will be planted in the next month of this micro project.
