This project will give Yerick, a beautiful two year old kid the chance to walk and have a happy childhood. Yerick was born with a genetic condition and did not fully develop one of his legs and that is why he walks using his hands and knees. With your help we will give him a prosthesis so he can walk and grow happily.
In Colombia there are more than 2.6 million disabled people and 30% of them have mobility difficulties. The Government and the health system cannot provide help for all of this people, and Yerick is one of them. He is only two years old and if he does not get an artificial leg right now he will never be able to walk in his life. Giving a prosthesis to this little child is giving him relief and hope to be happy and grow as he deserves.
Giving a kid a prosthesis is showing him the light in life, Yerick walks using his hands and knees and is also having spinal problems due to the way he walks and his physical posture. Getting a leg is walking for the first time, is learning to be independent and is giving health and relief to a little and beautiful kid that even with a lot of problems in his life is always happy and laughing.
Makavir Kmina provides prostheses to more than 250 amputees per year. This project will provide in a one-year period, prostheses to 20 children and youth between 1 and 25 years old who have suffered lower limb amputation allowing them to become independent in their daily life activities. This is important because they will have the opportunity to return to school, college or work, thus improving their living conditions and those of the people around them.
