This microproject will locate and inspire young women leaders in the local community to bring their ideas for local businesses the community forefront and then train them with the skills necessary to create, found and operate a business with local investor support.
Women in Bauchi have few options for schooling and often cannot receive the proper training to be part of the Bauchi workforce. Because of this women often have to marry so they can survive. Leadership Initiatives seeks to solve this problem by offering promising women leaders with entrepreneurial, leadership and project management training. These young women for the first time in their lives will be financially independent.
This project will provide basic business training for women leaders in the community. They are also going to be creating businesses of their own design. Because of this Leadership Initiatives is unable to know what businesses will be created because these women will be designing and founding them. We believe because these future leaders have lived in Bauchi their entire lives they will know what their community needs much better than LI ever could.
Develop independent profit-generating businesses that serve as models for growth in surrounding communities. Project beneficiaries fill voids in the local economy while improving their families' health, education and financial stability. Previous leaders have sent their brothers, sisters and children to school, helped invest in new businesses within the community, offered new services to community members such as the disabled, establishing infrastructure for the future growth of Nigeria.
