Microproject withdrawal

By Paola Catapano | Polarquest2018 project leader

The WeTest campaign was unfortunately suspended after being online for 90 days as per the microproject policy run by Global Giving.

It reached nearly 200 $ out of the 10.000 $ requested to run fully develop and test the device.

From our side, we are truly sorry that this project didn’t appeal to Global Giving’s audience.

We tried hard to communicate about it via Mail Chimp but also liaising with principal investigator Gaspard Durieux’s activities in the field, for example during his participation in the World Water Forum in Brasilia and the World Water Day ceremony.

Unfortunately, we are not in the position to bring Gaspard on board Nanuq to run his tests and consolidate the APP’s functionalities due to lack of funds.

This is Gaspard's explanation for the failure to complete the research work necessary to develop his app:

I would like to thank the donors who believed in Gaspard's project and reassure them that their donations are not lost!  They are automatocally transferred to Polarquest's flagship project, ie Microplastics, which are due to begin on July 21st when Nanuq casts off from isafjordur, Iceland to reach the Spitsbergen and circumnavigate that arcgipelago. 66 sampling stations are planned with two different methods: Mantanet and bottles. Read more about this on our feature article, publishe on Earth day:

Many thanks for your donations and your understanding!
