Hi,
We are very happy to share you the final report of the construction of Vocational Training Center for the Disabled Youth in India in the campus of Anugraha Special School Bhudhawadi, Bharne, Khed, Ratnagiri, India.
Summary of the Project
This project envisioned to build an Inclusive Vocational Training Centre for disabled and no-disabled youth in Maharashtra, India to empower them towards self-reliance.
Context of the Project
Anugraha Special School was started in the year 2000. At present there are 70 intellectually disabled students undergoing special training. Among them 25 students are above 18 age group. These students together with other disabled are looking for various vocational training skills to become self-reliant. There is no vocational training center for disabled is available in the district.
Facilities
As the 1815 sq.ft area ground floor construction is over, there are four training rooms, an office room, a staff room and two spacious toilet blocks. This is constructed in accordance with the requirements for the people with disabilities.
The training center will offically begin from coming academic year. We look for a batch of 30 students in the first year and already we have 18 boys and 7 girls with multiple disabilities. In the coming years we expect to reach 50 disabled students and as many as non disabled to get trained in this centre. There are 8 special students who got training in our special school who are now employed in various companies even when we did not have a formal vocational training center. This training centre will surely help the disabled to transform their lives in multifaceted manner.
We have already started envelop making, tailoring, handicrafts and embroidery, computer training and data entry and preparing floor cleaning liquids. We are also exploring other trades to easily train the students.
Monitoring & Evaluation
We will be evaluating the project every three months. Monitoring tools will be created and a team will be appointed for evaluation.
Sustainability
We need to find out /raise extra cost to run this centre smoothly. We have started approaching various donors and companies to support this noble cause. Management of Sangli Mission Society is capable to make sure the perfect implementation of the project objectives.
Impact
This inclusive vocational training will create an enabling environment to reduce poverty and promote gender equality through a dignified earning and social inclusion.
Our further needs
We are looking for various trades so that the disabled can easily learn and implement it. Together with training we look forward to produce some products so that the disabled can earn financially as well. It is our need to connect with companies so that we can get the job of data entry and order for certain products which can be easily made by the disabled. It will be highly helpful if anyone/company can support us with recurring donation towards operational expenses.
