Challenge

Catastrophic floods have devastated Limpopo, SA, with 300-600mm of rain over days atop high seasonal levels. This caused widespread destruction: impassable roads, collapsed infrastructure, and severe damage to our wildlife rescue centres. Umoya Khulula Wildlife Centre & ReWild face collapsed roofs, waterlogged enclosures, tree-breached flight cages, and river's undermining clinic's. These unplanned costs threaten their ability to rehabilitate and release endangered pangolins and other wildlife.

Solution

The Scales Flood Relief Fund directs 100% of donations to Umoya Khulula Wildlife Centre and ReWild for urgent repairs. Funds will cover materials/labor to fix collapsed roofs, drain/repair enclosures, replace damaged flight cages, reinforce undermined structures, and restore access to cut-off areas. We prioritize immediate fixes as assessments finish, restoring safe operations so centres can resume intake, treatment, rehabilitation, and release of vulnerable wildlife.

Long-Term Impact

Swift repairs funded here will let Umoya Khulula Wildlife Centre and ReWild resume full operations quickly, protecting their vital role in rescuing, caring for, and releasing endangered pangolins and other wildlife. Long-term, restored facilities build resilience to future floods, support Limpopo conservation and protect biodiversity securing a sustainable future for threatened species in South Africa.
