Education is most significant in everyone's life and it is a fundamental right of every human. But, still girls/women in rural areas are kept away from education. Due to several social evils, girls/women in rural areas are not allowed to go to school and they remain uneducated and thus, they are not able to make their dreams true.
In order to make the dreams of poor, illiterate rural women true, Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan runs a school "UDAAN". In Udan, such women get free and quality education with the support of GlobalGiving Foundation and the donors. Fifteen women learn in Udan for 3 hours everyday and learn to read, write, add, subtract and vocabulary. Now, these women are becoming literate and able to read newspaper, maintain records of daily transactions. Here, we share the story of one of the women students of Udan.
Mohini is 37 years old resides at village Bhanwta. She is a housewife who got married in her childhood and it restricted her to be educated. Mohini always had a dream to be educated and to get her own identity in the society as a representative, but being uneducated she couldn't do so. But, when she joined "Udan", she started learning and did hard work and now it is her dedication and determination which made her able to read, write. Moreover, she is going to apply for 8th standard examinations and after passing the examination, she plans to apply for 'Sarpanch'.
