TGI is the only Arab American youth philanthropy program in the country. This unique model teaches high school students about community issues, grantmaking, nonprofit management, communication and compromise, and community leadership. This year, the youth decided to focus their grantmaking priorities on academic success and access to healthcare, and have set a goal of granting $5000 to youth-serving organizations in the Detroit area.
The Detroit area continues to face a number of challenges, and desperately needs strong youth advocates to spark change at the grassroots level.
This microproject will provide materials and equipment for the youth to create their own video documentary on the year-long grantmaking process. The youth would also participate in a professional photography session, and create other marketing materials for the TGI program, which in turn will help expand the program beyond the Detroit Metro region.
By supporting the TGI program, you will give minority youth a voice for change in their community, while also benefiting a multitude of individuals served by education and health nonprofits.
