Send the TIGER Girls on their first field trip!

Summary

The TIGER Girls are a network of young change-makers who are learning together in OLE's program in the Za'atari Refugee Camp in Jordan. When we visited the TIGER Girls in June, they said they most wanted a field trip to explore the world outside the camp's walls. Make their dream come true - help us fund a field trip for the girls, during which they will visit a historical site in Jordan and present the latest TIGER community projects to leaders in Amman.

Challenge

Many of the TIGER Girls have not left Za'atari Camp since they arrived from Syria--up to five years ago. With tablets provided by OLE, the girls have access to thousands of resources. They learn about history, science, literature, and more, but all they see is the inside of Za'atari Camp. The field trip will help to motivate them to continue their education and give them new experiences to go along with the new things they are learning.

Solution

This project will send the TIGER Girls and their coaches on a field trip in Jordan. The girls will visit a historical site in Jordan . This will be their first field trip outside of the camp and will provide an incredible chance for the girls to share what they have learned over the past six months.

Long-Term Impact

The greatest long-term effects will be upon the TIGER Girls. They will be more self-reliant with the knowledge, skills, and values that they will need as adults. TIGER will improve the quality of their lives now and will enable them to prepare for a future in which they will build productive lives for themselves, their families, and their communities. TIGER will serve as a pilot program for innovative refugee education that has the potential to be replicated and expanded globally.
