At the start of the year, our corps members received training to ensure they enter schools equipped with the skills needed to tutor, run after school programs, manage behaviors and how to communicate with parents about their student's progress.
Each corps member has now gone through over 300 hours of professional training by City Year staff, education leaders, teachers and external experts. Over 2500 corps members are now placed in their school and have just started their after school programs.
Our impact is best described by our corps members themselves so please read below about how they describe their experience:
Kaplan @DKaplanCYB : The child who is always late showed up early today just like he promised after seeing my attendance tracker yesterday #makebetterhappen
Ennis @MattEnnis: First positive phone calls home today. Parents were so excited and said to call anytime, good or bad. Their support helps. #makebetterhappen
Carril @NathalieKing924: Today ALL of my students are IN SCHOOL & ON TIME! 100% PERFECT ATTENDANCE, YES! #makebetterhappen
Follow us on twitter to see more and to hear how they #makebetterhappen everyday.
