Dear friends,
Thank you very much for extending support to our child Vani. We raised $1200 towards Vani's living and education-related expenses. Out of $1200, $ 480 would be spent on her tuition, the rest would be spent on Hostel Fees.
We would like to share her story in this report.
D comes from a very poor family which consists of 3 children - 1 boy and 2 girls. The father is a watchman who also suffers from Tuberculosis. He keeps ill most of the time and does not go to work and earn enough. Vani lost her mother in childhood.
Seeing Vani's plight at home, her maternal Uncle brought her to Sphoorti.
Her story is of courage, determination and the will to do well In life in whatever situation one is placed in. She is an inspiration for privileged children who take a lot of things for granted in their lives.
Background of the child
Vani came to Sphoorti in 2009. She was born in Jan 2002. She recently passed STD XI examinations with 92% aggregate.
The Change
When Vani joined Sphoorti, her health was in a bad shape. She was from a slum neighborhood. Her behavior and habits were subpar. Years of malnutrition took toll on her health. Her teeth were in a disarray.
After a few years of staying at Sphoorti, Vani began to mix up well with other inmates. She has also been a consistent dancer in most of our cultural events at and outside Sphoorti.
Vani wants to be an IT professional and take up a job in a good company when she grows up. She says that she feels very safe and happy to be with her friends and staff members.
The Conclusion
Vani's story is one of grit and courage and love for life. Sphoorti feels privileged to have helped her find her purpose in life.
The staff members have to be particularly commended for their commitment and hard work in dealing with children like her.
Her good performance in STD XI gives us hope that she will do well in her further studies.
Over the last eleven years, the collaboration of our donors, well-wishers and other stake-holders has helped us provide a safe and secure childhood with facilities on par with those of a middle class family.
Through your support, we can help more children like Vani to become able citizens of India.
