NFTE North Texas was able to use the over $1,500 that was raised on the GlobalGiving platform to allow our students access to business mentors from the local community.  Funds raised from the project paid for classroom expenses for the time our volunteers were working with our young entrepreneurs, including curriculum costs, training programs, and field trips to the volunteers place of business for hands-on experiential activities. Thanks to your donations we were able to give our students the additional experience of hearing and learning from local professionals who have the first-hand knowledge of managing a business. The 1,000 students our office served in the 2013-2014 school year are that much closer to thinking with an entrepreneurial mindset because of you.

The volunteer of the year in NFTE North Texas was John A. of the Value Creation Group.  John has devoted countless hours to the students of the Dallas area, as a business plan judge, a classroom guest speaker, and business mentor.  NFTE North Texas is truly blessed to have such a loyal and committed volunteer.  His enthusiasm and dedication is inspiring.  John consistently volunteers for our events – whether it means mentoring a student for competition, helping students make adjustments to their pitches, serving as a judge at our competitions, to providing sometimes the much needed moral support and lending a hand wherever needed.

Two organizations also provided immense help with NFTE North Texas’s business plan competition. EY hosted the preliminary rounds of the competition, with local staff members helping students hone their financials and giving great feedback in between rounds. Their mentors worked with the students in the classroom, at BizCamp courses, and in the competitions themselves. EY provided timekeepers and scorers for each round of the Dallas Youth BizPlan Challenge. Young Professionals of Dallas also provided dozens of volunteers for our students. Between the two organizations, along with countless other corporations, NFTE North Texas was able to provide over 200 mentors and volunteers for our classrooms. Thanks so much again for your support through the GlobalGiving platform.
