We’re taking final comments on the Local Food Icons created with your support through January 18th. Have a quick look and comment! The chart (PDF) shows what’s been edited or added since Version 1 of this set was placed on our mapping platform. You can send us a note (info@greenmap.org) or add comments to this spreadsheet.
Already, these new icons are in use, as noted on GreenMap.org/localfood, by food bank growers (US), climate campaigners (UK) and Arctic farming specialists (Iceland), and more! We’re also gearing up to start our 2024 Local Food Green Map for NYC - currently we’re doing outreach to potential partners and planning a spring kickoff for data collection. We’ll conduct research on local food growing, learning, enterprise and assistance and share handy surveys that invite expressive public site suggestions that help the map take shape.
This local experience will equip us to better use local food as the gateway to draw in more local mapmakers from rural, frontline and inner city communities. Just as it takes time for a garden to provide sustenance, your support will help our movement take root in new places and grow food related capacities and skills that are vitally important, especially in rural and impoverished communities. We look forward to creating and sharing accessible training materials, how-to videos and adaptable engagement resources with your support.
Indeed, your donation has already provided a seat at the (dinner) table, so to speak! We hope you will remain a donor via GlobalGiving - this microproject is linked to our ongoing appeal that does much to provide access to our free mapping resources and networked inspiration. We welcome your participation! Please share the link with your friends and watch us grow in new places together. Thank you dear friend!
