The families of children with deafblindness were slowly limping back to normalcy and once gain they are hit, this time with second wave of COVID-19. With disabled children at home, who often have co -morbidities, parents are forced to stay at home and often miss their daily wage earnings. Many areas have gone into lockdown situations as well. Sense India will work to provide immediate relief and support which includes, food, medicines and basic nutrition for their children and themselves.
In the current milieu of uncertainty due to ongoing second wave of COVID 19 pandemic, the condition is grave for persons with complex disabilities like deafblindness. i.e. having epilepsy, heart disease, respiratory problems. The major concern is availability of basic food items as many of them belong to low income strata. Making situation worse, many people are struggling to earn their livelihoods and children with disabilities have to bear brunt of loss of earnings.
Sense India will support by providing necessary food provision in the form of ration kits. Medicines and other essentials to those families where there are single non-earning parent, fathers who have lost their job during lockdown, parents who themselves are aged and cannot step out. It will help them to meet their immediate need of having two meals a day to feed themselves and add-on their immunity to fight against the infectious and deadly pandemic and protect them from falling prey to COVID.
Your donation will help 200 families of children with deafblindness to build their immune system and make them stronger. They will be able to follow the Covid -19 protocols by wearing masks, keeping social distancing, washing their hands to keep themselves safe from Covid infection. They will be aware about whom to contact during the emergency. The support will help them to sustain their families and take good care of family members with deafblindness and MD till the situation gets better.
