Summer Camp to end Child Labour

Summary

Most of the children who are either school going or dropout has a tendency to work during summer vacation. But most of the families who send children to work during academic holidays will remain as child laborers even when the school reopens. In order to stop working even in the holidays HEARDS is planning to conduct Summer Camp to end child labor.

Challenge

Most of the poor urban children during their summer vacation have the habit of working in various hazardous industries. They just join only for the summer vacation holidays but most of these children will remain as child laborers and they never go back to school because the employer will convince the parents to send their children to work instead of school. In order to prevent this we desperately need to conduct summer camp in order to stop these poor children going to work.

Solution

During summer camp, HEARDS will teach children fun games, computer basics, meditation, Drawing, spoken English Etc. to these downtrodden children. This period will be much more like learn and play and the period will be much more valuable in their life. The classes will be from 8 am to 12.30 pm and after that they will be provided a nutritious mid-day meal. This project will phase out the tendency to work and instead they will come to our center to play and learn.

Long-Term Impact

As the children are educated they become aware of their rights and will not allow any person to trample upon those rights, and this will ultimately end the circle of child poverty, child labor and child trafficking.
