In terms of raising the money to fund all the neutering surgeries in the village of Picol in one go, this campaign didn't do as well as we had hoped. However, after matching from GlobalGiving, we did raise enough to neuter eight dogs. We have carried out these surgeries, as well as others as part of our regular scheduling, and are working our way through the dogs in Picol and other rural villages.
With funds that we have been able to raise during GivingTuesday and our generous donors throughout the year, we are able to continue our work to ensure dog populations in the villages around Cusco don't continue to grow uncontrollably. By offering this humane form of population control, we can help to reduce the number of unwanted puppies that are killed and abandoned, and also reduce the perceived need for inhumane culling and poisoning.
