Raising A Reader has provided the first Raising A Reader With STEM programs to pre-K and Kindergarten children in San Mateo and Tehama Counties in CA and are currently choosing the new sites to be selected!.
These local low-income schools include children and families who absolutely need these programs the most. The program includes a parent training component and evaluation.
“During our parent conferences, the teachers were able to one-on-one explain the program with the parents and personally encourage their participation. STEM is a hot topic right now and we love that we can make the connection at home.”
By introducing STEM concepts – sciences, technology, engineering and math – at this early stage in each child’s development we can begin to even the playing field. We will also introduce families – parents, caregivers and even siblings, cousins and extended family – to the importance of sharing in their child’s learning through reading together.
Raising A Reader’s little red book bag has helped more than one million families develop, practice, and maintain the habit of sharing books. Thank you for all that you do to support child literacy through Raising A Reader!
You truly are changing the lives of children and families in need.
Yours in book sharing
