Rohan is a 29 years old resident of a distant village Rajgarh in Pisangan block, Ajmer. Being infected from polio since childhood, Rohan is disabled from both legs. Due to the disability he has to face so many hardships for anything in the life. Moreover, he has to rely on family members for the daily routine jobs. Rohan's father is a herdsman in the village and earns very little from the occupation which is not sufficient to meet the family Basic requirements. On the other hand, the problems of Rohan has increased as his parents are ill for some time. Rohan often worries his future as his even after the family's financial conditions are pathetic he is not able to support the family. He always searches for sustainable livelihood, but the financial conditions restricts him and the disability doesn't allow him to move out and perform some job.
One day, Rohan's mother participated in one of the programs held by Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan RSKS India in Rajgarh where she met with our activists. She explained the condition and problems of Rohan to the activists. Being ensured by the activists to get support from Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan, she got some relief. After some days our activists took an interview of Rohan and motivated him for performing some economic activity to be a support for the family. After the interview, Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan decided to give Rohan a tri-cycle so that he may be able to move out and to do some job.
Soon, Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan gave Rohan a tri-cycle in a program with financial support of the GlobalGiving and Donors. Rohan started a mobile shop (Moving shop on wheel) in the tri-cycle through which he moves in the entire village and sells stuffs. Along with the tri-cycle the organization also provide him stock as chocholates, snacks, rule, cold-drinks, toys and fancy items. Now, he sells the stuffs and earns for his family.
Now, Rohan explores the village in the tri-cycle everyday and sells stuffs to the villagers. Seeing his tri-cycle, children get crowded around him and buy the stuffs. Women in the village also buy fancy items from Rohan and all this gets him better earning.
Rohan has got sustainable livelihood which helps to improve the financial conditions of his family. Rohan does hard work everyday to sell the stuffs and calculates the earnings in the evening. Her mother is so happy to see him working as his future is now secured for which Rohan and his family thank to Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan and GlobalGiving Foundation and DONOR.
Rohan buys stock from a part of the earnings from selling the stuffs. He has dream to start his own shop in the near future for which he is doing hard labour. Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan follows up Rohan at times which gets us the improvement in the living standard of Rohan and increase in his earnings. If Rohan has some problem, then the organization solves it immediately. In the last follow up activity, we observed increased confidence in Rohan and the way he lives dignified life.
