We funded a school that brings down the costs of bilingual education (average of USD$250 monthly) to only USD$30 /month. We are impacting the lives of 100 families but there are many who still want to enroll in our school and don't have the means to pay for tuition. Through your support you will make possible for a child to receive preschool and primary education with the gratuity of a public school but the quality of a private one. Our goal is to have 20% of our students subsidized this year.
Bilingual education in Colombia is expensive. An average Colombian child doesn't speak English and only 1 out of 10 Colombian young citizens is bilingual. This is a huge disadvantage when finding jobs or scholarships. A poor child would never have access to a bilingual school. Low-income families send their children to public schools which are free but crowded with a student-teacher ratio of 40:1 and taught under traditional methods which cause high rates of school dropouts at a very young age.
We have bridged this gap by funding a non-profit bilingual school. It is located in an underprivileged area of Cali, Colombia where 80.000 people live under conditions of poverty. 140 students attend our school but still many who desire to enroll are left out because, as much as they try, they don't have the $30 it costs to pay for tuition. Through this project you are helping children to have quality education, develop XXI century skills and creativity, learn English and explore their potential
This project will educate children to rise out of an unequal society that provides the best education to the ones who can afford it. If we offer our children a chance to stay in school to receive qualified bilingual education, we're setting the ground to a brighter future. This will have a long lasting impact in their own families and community. By supporting this project you are contributing to goals #1 #4 #10 of the UN SDG ", No poverty, Quality education and reduced inequalities".
