This special celebration fund for our 10th IN THEIR SHOES 5K run/walk on May 21 will supercharge our high impact initiatives to protect, nurture, and empower Iraq's most vulnerable children - orphans, street kids, child laborers, and child victims of trafficking. Help us expand legal protection, education, nutrition, medical care, and psychosocial services for these voiceless children in 2022 through our Baghdad Street Lawyers and Anti-Trafficking team and our child friendly "Hope Buses!"
Hundreds of thousands of children were orphaned during the Iraq War and later under ISIS violence. More than 1 million children fled from homes and schools. Children work at trash dumps, on the street, at factories, and other places to support poor families. Young teen girls face early marriage, and children are exploited by sex, labor, and human organ traffickers. Education in Iraq is in crisis with the World Bank warning that, "Learning levels in Iraq are among the lowest" in the region.
This special 5K fund will super-charge our projects and increase the number of orphans and vulnerable kids with access to ICF's high impact projects delivering free legal protection, education, food, medical care, and psychosocial services. Already thousands of children have been loved and served, including poor orphans, street kids, child laborers, disabled kids, child victims of trafficking. Let's reach out our arms and bring hope to many more voiceless and at-risk boys and girls.
These loving services promise to continue to be life-changing. From May 2016 - Feb 2022: *1,792 children received legal protection, anti-trafficking support, and more from Street Lawyers; *1,788 children got legal documents required for school and benefits; *1,334 children received social services to end child labor and abuse, access health care, etc. *562 children got tutoring and meals on on the Hope Buses. More funds means more high impact help for these voiceless kids.
