Saludos from the Andes!
After almost nine months of a steady increase of campesino farmers returning to their communities due to the pandemic, there is a high demand for seeds. Additionally, with the increasing market for ecological production, organic and heirloom seeds are sought out for the long-term sustainability and support for future generations.
We started this project to be able to create a ripple effect for farmers to continue saving seeds. This pandemic is teaching many to return to the roots of a campesino that is supported through community and working together in ayni. Ayni is the ancient Andean campesino tradition of reciprocity usually through working in the fields together. The Andean campesino culture is being revitalized and can be strengthened through the continued distribution of seeds.
Thanks to this project, we have been distributing seeds to all of the communities where we are currently working. Your support is helping make this happen! We appreciate you!
