The project will support 60 trainees every semester to use the tools and equipment powered by the solar power during their training at our school for over 15 years
The Family Harvest Trade Training school does not currently have a stable electrical supply. Unfortunately, the electrical supply in the Gulu area is erratic. The sun in Uganda is strong and can provide clean, stable energy for our students and the tools they need to use as they learn. We have partnered with Solar Now, an Ugandan solar installation company to determine what we need to bring clean, solar-powered electricity to our school. This project will affect the life of many
A stable, clean electric supply will allow all students to learn without disruption. Using solar power will decrease costs created by the use of generators or borrowed electricity. In addition, this power source will have the added benefit of reducing the school's carbon footprint.
Through providing hands-on skills training the 60 youth that attend Family Harvest every semester will have access to training undisrupted by problems with electric supply. This training creates marketable skills for jobs. A secure job provides hope and financial security for them and their families. As the economy develops in the Gulu region there will be less opportunity for gangs to form and grow. This will build our people and our community.
