We give weekly play based sessions to 6,000 children, teens, and young adults across our three regional offices in Soacha and Magdalena. Snacks are a crucial element in our activities, as they provide our participants with the energy they need to play soccer, basketball and more, as well as develop the crucial socioemotional abilities our methodology teaches. Evidence shows that food is crucial for brain development in children, making it all the more important to our kids!
The organization is currently facing an issue of supplying snacks to all of its participants over the course of a full year. Given the frequency with which we work with our kids and the difficulty of access to food outside of their homes, paired with the importance that nutrition plays in brain development and the ability to focus, it is essential that we overcome this issue and provide our participants with healthy snacks during our programming.
All of these funds will go towards solving our food supply issues in Soacha and Santa Marta.
These snacks will not only improve the effectiveness of our socioemotional methodology with the children, but it will also increase the long term sustainability of our activities. Access to food is a massive draw for our participants, and if they do not have access to nutritious food during programming, many students will stop participating. Keeping our participants nourished is the first step towards keeping them engaged in activities and helping them maximize their full potential!
