Greetings to you all from a sunny Coffee Bay - we trust you are staying well and safe.
Due to a lack of funding, we have had to re-structure the way we operate the Siyafunda Afterschool Program. There are 32 children in Grades 1 - 3 attending and each child attends Siyafunda twice a week, to do online Maths and English using the IXL programm on tablets.
Eight children per hour attend, doing one hour of maths one day and an hour of English in two day's time. Each child receives an orange as snack after their hour's work.
The children really enjoy working on the tablets, and this is the only opportunity they get to do this. IXL has very good analytics, so we are able to see if children are getting stuck with work. We do believe that this additional practice will assist the students with their Maths and English marks.
