Dear friends,
Because of your generous donations our six sophomores are heading back to school! There is currently no high school, public or private, in Cabarete. This leads to larger drop out rates and lower levels of education amoung the youth of our community. Children who do attend high school are forced to commute to neighboring towns or attend night classes that take them away from valuable family time. Thankfully, you have helped to send a group of six Mariposas to their second year of high school at a private, local school that provides the best education for Dominican children in our area.
The importance of education cannot be overemphasized, especially for young girls. Research has shown that girls who recieve seven years of education marry four years later than girls who don't. They also have fewer children, and the children they do have are more likely to attain a high level of education. This is just one step to ending generational poverty, and your donation has ensured that six of the Mariposas will achieve that goal. Thank you for your support of the Mariposa DR Foundation, and thank you for ensuring that our girls have a bright academic future.
With gratitude,
The Mariposas
