At the end of the year we try to bring joy to the children at Tamar Center and also to the women working in the bars. We are raising funds for Christmas Gifts for the 19 children and their mothers that are currently staying at Tamar Center. We also plan to hand out 1500 Christmas Gift Bags to the women currently working in the sex industry in Pattaya. In the last years the women were amazed when we showed up with gifts for them and we want to bless them again!
There are thousands of women working in the sex industry in Pattaya. Currently, many of them are struggling. There are currently more women in Pattaya than Tourists and the competition between the women is high. There is also a lot of pressure on the women to make money for their families and to help with the rising costs in the country side, especially after the bad flooding that Thailand experienced this year. Our goal is to bring them joy and hope during this Christmas season.
The gift bags that we distribute will be filled with gifts like our special homemade Christmas cookies, beauty products, a booklet, some small gifts as well as information about our vocational training program and options where the women can go, if they want help to leave the sex industry. For the children at Tamar the gifts will be some toys and some practical items that the mothers will choose for them, so that during the Christmas Break they can play together!
Our goal for the women is to leave Pattaya, maybe return to their families and to have a normal life outside of the sex industry. We will train the women job skills and help them to find employment or help them to start their own small business so that they can provide for themselves and their children. Also, when they return to their families, they will help to prevent other young girls and boys to start a work in the sex industry.
