What can be more gratifying during the holiday season than sharing your blessings with those less fortunate? Many people knew the answer to this question and made hundreds of children and their families celebrate with joy this past Christmas. With arms full of food for their families, the Live and Learn in Kenya International children's mamas, papas and grandmas danced and sang through the slums of Nakuru. It may not sound like much to the more fortunate - but to these familes the Christmas feast of fresh chicken, vegetables, ugali, chapatis and tea with sugar was a feast to remember and share the memory of for a long, long time. The children received lovely T-shirts this year designed by the US American artist, Susan Juel and books in their names (each child wrote their name on the sticker of a book) for the classroom libraries. They also received a huge holiday meal on Christmas Eve afternoon with meat and vegetables and rice and milk and fruit and sweets. The holidays are for children's smiles - no matter what their religions are - and we are so thankful to the many GlobalGiving donors who helped to make this holiday season something to smile about. It's a warm, warm feeling knowing that you made an entire family happy and smiling - isn't it!
Asante sana - thank you so much for your kindness! Happy New Year.
