Send Zach to School for a Year!

A microproject by International Disaster Volunteers (IDV)

Summary

Zach is six. He lives with his mother, Yolette. Yolette didn't complete her primary school education, so she's found it difficult to find work and support Zach. As a consequence, the two have always lived in poverty. Yolette enrolled Zach in our scholarship programme so that he could get a better start than she did and avoid the poverty which has trapped her for her entire life. Your donation will give Zach the education he needs to break the cycle of poverty and build a bright future.

Challenge

School in Haiti is not free, and if a family cannot pay, their children simply do not attend. Lack of education locks these children in a cycle of poverty. Ensuring access to school not only improves children's lives, but strengthens Haitian communities in the long-term.

Solution

Zach has lived his whole life in poverty because his mother was never able to receive the education she needed when she was young. Your donation will give Zach the education he needs to ensure he does not follow in his mother's footsteps. We'll use your donation to pay Zach's school fees, provide books, school supplies, and extra support if he needs it. The education he'll receive will be life changing.

Long-Term Impact

Access to education for children from families who do not have the means to send their children to school means that those children will have the skills they need to find stable jobs and escape the poverty of their families.
