Thelma is a 6 year old deaf girl, she is starting to learn sign language but she can only do it in Buea School of the Deaf, a private institution not supported by the state. This project will ensure Thelma's fees are paid and she continues to learn how to communicate with the world and with her mother for another year. She's made amazing progress despite her vulnerability, if you want her to continue her journey support this cause.
Hearing disabilities are not adequately addressed in Cameroon, the only facility that can educate deaf children in the whole South-West Region (1,5 Million inhabitants) has to charge more than 8 times the average cost of schooling because it does not receive government support. Stephanie, Thelma's mother, is a young single mother that struggles every day in the household and the business site, she has been improving a lot, but not enough yet.
Thelma's mental development and right to education are at risk if external funding does not come through, with a great solution only a few kilometers and dollars out of reach. With this donation you will secure the education of an amazing child who one year ago could not know any sign language and is now teaching bits to her own mother. (As our short video showcases). If 538 dollars are secured school fees will be paid in full, 711 will add school supplies. 781 a business grant for the mother.
Thelma is in the critical years where she is learning a language to understand, interpret and talk back to the world, this means that she is close to a point where she will be able to fully communicate with her mother, her peers and her teachers. Eventually she will be able to reach the job market and to exercise her rights as citizen. You can provide her with this critically invaluable knowledge. An opportunity that will pay off a hundred times.
