Send Boldlina and Bodlyson to School for a Year

$625 $0
Raised Remaining

This project will provide a year of school for four year old twins Bodlina and Bodlyson. The twins arrived at the orphanage after their father was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2010. Bodlina and Bodlyson love to play outdoors - if there's a mud puddle they're likely to be found in it making a mess! Thanks to donors like you, the twins went to preschool last year. With your help, they'll start Kindergarten in September 2013.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

As orphans, Bodlina and Bodlyson are among the most vulnerable of Haitian children. There are no free schools available in Port au Prince, so the orphanage must employ its own teachers and run its own school. Lack of education locks kids like Bodlina and Bodlyson into a cycle of poverty. Ensuring access to school not only helps Bodlina and Bodlyson break that cycle, but strengthens Haitian communities in the long-term.

How will this project solve this problem?

Bodlina and Bodlyson have lived their whole lives in poverty. They need a quality education to find a prosperous future. Your donations will give them that education and set them on the road to a brighter tomorrow.

Potential Long Term Impact

Access to education will give Bodlina and Bodlyson the skills they needs to find stable jobs and escape poverty when they are older.

Provide a safe home for Haitian Orphans
This project provides a safe home for 27 orphaned children in Haiti. The 2010 earthquake destroyed the orphanage, leaving all of the children homeless. We've already provided them with a new house, and we're now meeting all their needs. Some, like 3 year old Germina, were abandoned when their relatives couldn't care for them. She was just 6 days old when she arrived. Others arrived at the orphanage after their parents died. All of the kids would be homeless without donors like you. project reportread updates from the field
